研究机构称未来Wi-Fi和WiMAX将长期共存

【赛迪网讯】10月13日消息称，研究机构ABI Research对一些WiMAX支持者的“WiMAX将完全取代Wi-Fi”的观点表示了不同意见，认为Wi-Fi和WiMAX将长期共存。

ABI Research指出，最激进的WiMAX IC制造商Intel预计在2006年中期向笔记本电脑制造商提供WiMAX芯片集。这意味着WiMAX在802.16e市场真正地兴起还要有几年的时间，2007年之前WiMAX不会对Wi-Fi产生竞争，到那时Wi-Fi在笔记本电脑中的使用已经开始普及。

WiMAX和Wi-Fi将出现共存的局面，WiMAX用于建筑物，Wi-Fi用于内部网络。WiMAX作为Wi-Fi的连接站，并在一些没有布置电缆和DSL的地区进行布置。（n102）
